Golf Uno has begun working with the first schools in the Moss district. The pilot project in Moss is designed to give primary school students a fun and inclusive introduction to golf. Through collaboration with local schools, teachers, and golf coaches, we aim to incorporate golf exercises into physical education classes, while also promoting important skills such as focus, strategy, and teamwork. Inclusion and diversity are also a major part of our program. We believe that no child should have to sit out during gym class—everyone should be naturally included.
Ekholt School First to Participate in Moss
Ekholt School was the first to participate, and Golf Uno has already started training PE-teachers so that they can now implement golf as a natural part of their classes. All schools participating in Golf Uno’s program will receive a minimum of 10 hours of training from Uno staff. This involves very little theory—the focus is on practical exercises where teachers will have a unique opportunity to try out many of the different activities listed in the manual Impactito.
They will also gain knowledge on how to adapt the exercises for indoor or outdoor use, and how to tailor them to the students' varying abilities. The goal of these training sessions for PE teachers is to let them test the equipment that will be distributed to all schools in the Uno program, while also helping them feel more confident in their role when introducing students to this new concept.
What Ekholt School Thinks About Golf in Schools
“We clearly see the benefit of providing our teachers with new skills for use in teaching. We also support the project’s goal of mastery, diversity, and inclusion, with golf as both the method and tool.
At Ekholt School, it is important that all students have the same opportunity to participate in physical activity and try out a variety of sports.”
— Morten Wisth, Head of Department for Grades 4–7 at Ekholt School
