Golf Uno's mission
Our mission is to use golf as an inclusive tool to promote physical activity, life skills, and social cohesion in schools. The goal is not to train students to become golfers, but to make golf accessible to everyone as a method to strengthen skills such as cooperation, respect, patience, and problem-solving.
Background and history
Where it started
Golf Uno was founded in Mexico through the initiative of two key individuals:
Carlos Ventura: The father of a child who played golf, participated in national tournaments, and has enjoyed the sport to this day.
Jorge Campos: National team goalkeeper and an internationally recognized football player with a great passion for golf.
They were convinced that golf provides valuable life skills both on and off the course, but at the same time believed that the sport was discriminatory—especially since the children of golf course employees often did not have the opportunity to play. Golf Uno was therefore established to give children from low-income families equal opportunities, with agreements with 45 clubs and support for further education. Today, many of the participants are professionals and grateful for the support they received, which has helped develop young people both as athletes and as members of society.
Golf UNO in Mexico
As a non-profit organization, Golf Uno has given children from disadvantaged families the opportunity to play golf and develop life skills. With its strong focus on “life skills,” the organization was recognized in 2005 by the Tiger Woods Foundation—the only organization in the world sharing their vision.
Golf Uno has thus become a bridge to inclusion and holistic development.
Golf UNO in Norway
In Norway, Golf Uno Europe has identified the need to integrate golf into schools to promote diversity and inclusion. The initiative creates an environment characterized by harmony and safety, enriching the educational experience and fostering personal and social growth among young people.
This goal will be achieved by having physical education teachers incorporate the program into schools, in collaboration with external institutions that share a commitment to shaping young individuals who are both physically and mentally healthy.
